This course is about the design of The Web, Apps, Spaces and Experiences. In undertaking this course you will be equipped with the design tools to turn your ideas into things that we can not only visualise, touch or hear, but also things we can actively experience.
Merging ever-expansive new technologies into our lives in a way that serves rather than frustrating us is one of the emerging design challenges of our time. In this course we will explore the boundaries of everyday life and bring new uses to emergent technologies.
A JMC Academy Digital Design Bachelor's Degree will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in all the digital tools you need for your future in Design. While tackling a series of hands on studio based projects we will encourage you to open up your playful side, build your design literacy and your creative thinking toolkit.
With our studio based learning, you'll have an experience that closely matches the industry you're preparing to enter. JMC Academy is a creative hub where you will meet and collaborate with other creative people such as animators, musicians and film and TV crews.
Our lecturers come from an industry background, so you'll receive advice directly from someone who followed the same journey as you are on right now.
Beginning with a foundational introduction to the underlying ‘language’ of design, while tackling a series of creative projects we will playfully examine the principles of design. We will explore making typography in a variety of mediums and look at the relationship between design and storytelling. Importantly, We will use design thinking as an essential tool for attacking problems.
We will learn hands on digital skills while tackling creative project briefs. Use drawing and digital photography as a persuasive device to sell our concepts. Over this part of the course we will engage with key art and design movements, practitioners and theories.
In the next phase of the degree we will learn about design research, experience prototyping and design led social change.
The final stage of activity will involve learning advanced design, thinking, software skills and 3D. Ultimately we will encourage you to lead your own collaborative project. You will undertake the project from research and conception to client feedback and re-design, right through to delivery.
